"Hurry to do good"(Friedrich Joseph Haass, a Russian doctor, 1780-1853)
Unfortunately the majority of families raising disabled children find themselves in a certain social isolation. The psychological trauma caused by the child’s disability is often aggravated by exorbitant daily difficulties. As life shows after the birth of a disabled child many families break up and one of the parents is left alone with all kind of living, psychological and financial problems. Expenses and efforts for raising and rehabilitation of a disabled child are much greater than for bringing up a healthy one. That’s why the Foundation gives priority attention to support of such families.
In the frame of the program we organize high-professional consultations and diagnostic examinations for disabled children on the basis of the best clinics of Moscow. These additional dedicated medical check-ups in specialized medical institutions give parents better understanding of state of health of their child, see the dynamics of the disease, get information about the newest methods of treatment and rehabilitation.
The project also includes free taxi services which allow disabled children who have severe mobility restrictions to visit medical health and rehabilitation centers.
On a regular basis we organize legal consultations on rights and benefits of disabled people and their relatives. They have an opportunity to get advice on a concrete issue e.g.: housing, compensation of orthopedic footwear, paid medical services, etc.).
In the frame of the program we organized ‘hot line’ service to accept individual requests from parents for additional services, control their performance, reveal individual needs in social support of each family.
Since 2010 inside the program we started a pilot project on developmental and correcting lessons conducted by specialists-pedagogues. On the basis of one of Moscow specialized kindergartens for children with health disorders there are organized art work-shops and classes of drawing, clay modeling, origami, eurhythmics, music lessons. At the end of session the children and their teachers will participate in a creative playing performance and creative contests.
The final target of the complex program is to eliminate or compensate as fully as possible the limited capabilities of children with health disorders, which finally should bring disabled children to a society of healthy peers and provide their further social integration.
